Day 2 - Industrious day (for real)
Okay, we've gotten to the second step, and I would hope not even Srinivasa Ramanujan would find anything memorable (or should I say easy to associate with arbitrarily assigned values of importance) about a day like today 3-17-17, or as we write it in Spanish, 17/3/17, I mean almost all forms of this number are prime... so this is my rant about today not being January 1st or any day in which I should be changing my life.
I mentioned the day was pretty industrious, because even though I might have not slept as much as I wanted, I woke up at around 6:30 am and got to work (in my PJ's only a few steps away from my room). So, thus far I haven't mentioned much of what I do, which by the way, as most of myself, is slightly unusual. I own, together with a couple family members, an educational publishing business, call it stubbornness, persistence, or sheer stupidity but I've been doing this for a while without much financial success; there are however some variables that need to be adjusted, more sales, more aggressiveness mainly, but oh well, more on that later. I am in charge of the production, and by that I mean, I write the textbooks (science related and high school level), and hell I don't know all that much about anything, but I learn as I go (I do however hold a doctorate degree in chemical engineering for those judgy souls out there), but I mostly see it as a journalism type of job, just one that I made up; this means that I also coordinate the contributors, reviewers, graphic designers, web programmers, other writers, content producers and so on. I am mostly in charge of producing this content as well since the company does not have as many assets to subcontract all the work, plus, because it is my joint, I do a much more decent job than everyone we've hired so far doing it for a paycheck, that and I'm fairly decent at writing. I also do sales and tomorrow I'm visiting a distributor and presenting him our web platform. Then today, I uploaded some content, up to chapter 4, edited some presentations that go with our chemistry textbook, solved with programmers some web related issues that did not allow iframes to be uploaded on questions (so now they are again), uploaded the auto-questionnaire for chapter 2, and changed some styles in the web platform. I have not yet finished a video related to plasma and I've been sitting on it. I have not yet mentioned this, but this company is located in Guatemala, and that also sets some of the prices we manage, but my main intent is to have some real high quality in the products, just learning as I go.
By the way here's a sample of the last book:
As I mentioned, my endeavors are slightly unusual so I also own a business in the US, which has been funded with a federal grant to develop a mercury control for the coal industry. So among other tasks I was abl to understand the desulfurization process at a gasification plant talk with the process engineer, communicate with my partners and start the test plan for this company which included the organization of the safety data sheet, revamping a document I wrote in the past and researching on flue gas absorbers. I haven't finished that document arghh, but I did get a helluva workout, so full day, 9pm and now just finishing my log. So as for the kick-ass workout of today I did:
4 sets of dumbbell chest press, 1s-12r-30lb, 1s-10r-50lb, 1s-10r-60lb
4 sets of dumbbell rear deltoid raise 4 sets -5reps- 25 to 35 lb
4 sets -upright row - (75, 75, 75, 65)lb
4 sets -pushups -20reps
Chest flies - dumbbells, 4 sets 8 reps(35 lb -50lb)
Chest press - 4 sets , 8 reps 55, 65x3 lbs
Abs - knee kicks 3 x 15 reps
Treadmill -10 min, inclination 8%, v=7 km/h (last minute at 8.6km /h)
Pull ups 4 x8 reps
Inclined chest press barbell 4 sets (135x2, 175x2)lbs.
And this was done in 1:12 h. And entails about 643 calories.
I only had three meals, but in my last one I had two eggs with ham and cheese and a protein shake, it's some progress, at least there was no bread. Also, had chicken for lunch, one thigh, a potato, and lettuce salad, and breakfast; two eggs, beans, bread, plantains (oink). Okay, diet is still unavailable, coming soon though.
